8th Annual Operation Golden Rule

Visiting Angels will be doing our 8th Annual Operation Golden Rule project. Each year our community has assisted us by donating new items to give to our residents of nursing homes here in Lubbock. Visiting Angels needs your help! New items such as games, big print Bibles, and personal hygiene products are needed to reach out to our senior citizens who are going to be alone this holiday season. We would like to invite you to join us in making the holidays special for someone that might otherwise have been “overlooked”. Our drive begins November 1st, 2011 and ends December 9th, 2011. Please bring new items to 3502 Slide Road, Ste A-2 or call our office at 806-687-2780. Monetary donations are also welcome.

Operation Golden Rule

Operation Golden Rule targets Seniors in long term care facilities because this population is oftentimes the “overlooked” population. These residents were our soldiers, professionals, farmers, and pillars of their communities and gave sacrificially of themselves to allow all of us the privilege of living and working in a free society.

Our goal is to return that favor.

Visiting Angels sets out barrels at drop off points and has a list of items that these Seniors have specifically requested such as toboggans, gloves, socks, lotions, slippers, etc. The drive lasts several weeks in December so that everyone has a chance to donate these items. After the drive ends these items are divided up and delivered to each nursing home. These Seniors needs and desires are simple but being part in helping to make Christmas come alive for these Seniors in nursing homes is priceless!
