On December 1st, 2003, Visiting Angels Of Lubbock began with Chris Faubus, her daughter Tina Woodcock, and long time friend Jodi Duncan with the desire to provide the highest level of in elderly services to senior residents in the Lubbock area.
Through the years Visiting Angels has had many business highlights. The most unexpected was the birthing of the non emergency Transportation Division which allowed us to transport our in home clients to and from their doctor and medical appointments. Eldercare transportation runs around the clock to service any need.
In 2011, the transportation department became its own company because of its exponential growth. Angel Express meets the transportation needs of Seniors in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and all areas in Texas.
Chris Faubus began her career in Lubbock in 1977 working as secretary to the Dean at the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. In 1982 she started Nursing School and in 1984 became a licensed Registered Nurse. She worked at St. Mary’s, and then went to work at Charter Plains Hospital in an on-call capacity where she rose in the next 14 years to Director of Nursing. When Charter closed she went to work for Highland Hospital as Chief Nursing Officer where she worked for the next two years.
While at Highland Hospital, she felt led to explore areas of need for people who had needs within the home other than medical. A friend of hers found an article about non-medical in home care for the elderly. For the next year she obtained information and on Dec. 15th, 2003, Visiting Angels opened their doors in Lubbock, Texas.
Over the years, Mrs. Faubus has served as the President of the Adult Protective Services Board, board member of Family Counseling Services, and has been an RN consultant providing assessments for long term care insurance companies.
Today the Faubus’ are the proud parents of two children: Tina Faubus Woodcock and Marty Faubus. They have three granddaughters and three grandsons. They are long time residents of Lubbock and are actively involved in their church and community.
